Is Dental Implant Claimable?

Is Dental Implant Claimable?

Dental implants are a type of false tooth that is surgically implanted into the jawbone. They are used to replace one or more missing teeth, and they can also be used to support a dental prosthesis such as a denture or bridge.

The implant is made of titanium and placed into the jawbone through a surgical procedure. Once in place, the implant will fuse to the bone over a period of several months.

Once the implants have fused to the bone, they can then be used to support dental prostheses. Read more to discover the cost of dental implants and see if they’re claimable.

Now, dental implants are considered a very successful treatment option for missing teeth. However, they are also an expensive treatment option. The cost of dental implants will vary depending on factors such as the number of implants being placed, the type of implants being used, the dental surgeon’s experience, and the dental practice’s location.

In general, however, dental implants can cost anywhere from S$1500 to S$6000 per tooth. For this reason, dental implants are usually only considered for people who are missing one or more teeth.

Can I use Medisave for Dental Implant?

Dental implants are quickly becoming the tooth replacement method of choice for many people. They offer several advantages over other options, such as dentures or bridges.

For one thing, dental implants are more stable and secure than dentures, which can slip around in the mouth and be quite uncomfortable. In addition, dental implants look and feel more like natural teeth than dentures or bridges.

However, one disadvantage of dental implants is that they are not always covered by insurance. Many insurance companies consider them purely cosmetic and therefore not medically necessary.

As a result, patients who opt for dental implants may have to pay for the entire cost out of their own pockets. That doesn’t mean that there’s no help available, though.

Dental surgical treatments such as Dental Implants, Wisdom Tooth Operations, and Gum Surgery can all be paid for with Medisave. There are also specific instances where you can also use your Medisave for other treatments, such as Root Canal Treatment.

How much can I Claim from Medisave for Dental Services?

Please, note that the type of surgery you have plays a significant role in how much you can claim from Medisave. The simplest explanation for this is that every surgery you can have comes with a predetermined amount you can always claim and a specific code.

Also, all claims you can make are determined by a fixed limit provided by the Ministry of Health. The MoH provides a Table of Surgical Procedures that stipulates these limits as illustrated below;

  • TOSP 1A / 1B / 1C: S$250 / 350 / 450 Medisave limits
  • TOSP 2A / 2B / 2CS: S$600 / 750 / 950 Medisave limits
  • TOSP 3A / 3B / 3CS: S$1,250 / 1,550 / 1,850 Medisave limits
  • TOSP 4A /4B / 4CS: S$2,150 / 2,600 / 2,850 Medisave limits

From the illustration above, you can see that you can claim from S$250 to $2,850 from Medisave. Perhaps you’re wondering why the difference?

Well, the amount you can claim for your dental service is basically influenced by how complex the surgical procedure you need is. For example, a simple wisdom tooth extraction can be categorized as TOSP 1A, while something like Dental Implants or All-on-4 surgery will fall under TOSP 4A. In other words, the more complex the surgery, the higher your Medisave limit for that particular treatment.
